What should I do next?
This is too often the question rattling around in my brain.
Wrestling with the answer is the primary source of wasted time in my day.
I have a pretty good memory, so there’s an enormous list of tasks and projects in my mind at any given time. I don’t understand people that claim boredom.
Should do the easiest thing and get it off my mind?
Should I do the things that people are pestering me the most about?
Should I complete a step in a more complex project?
Should I go heads down and bang through a full project?
Should I analyze the list and pick something that promises major impact?
Should I ignore the list and learn something new or seek inspiration?
Should I ignore the list and have a conversation with someone interesting?
All of these are options.
How do you make this decision – What to do next?
Is there a priority to these things? Do you discard some entirely? Do you have a framework or workflow?
(By the way, I wrote this while avoiding answering the question: What should I do next?)
